Who is a Candidate
Candidates include all those individuals, male or female, between 40 and 65+ years of age with mild to moderate skin laxity in the lower region of the face including the lower cheeks, jaw line, under the chin and neck.

Procedure Description
For over 30 years this procedure, and/or variations of it, has been performed; the technique, recovery time and results vary with each doctor.

The SafeLift ™ is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that lifts and tightens loose skin on the mid-to-lower-face and minimizes the appearance of nasolabial folds.

This procedure is performed in-office with local anesthesia, making it painless with minimal bleeding and very little bruising and swelling. Oral pre-medication is generally recommended to help relax the patient.

Unlike other “mini-lifts,” the SafeLift ™ is a real facelift in that it involves tightening the connective tissue layer beneath the skin called the superficial musculoaponeurotic system, or SMAS, making the results longer lasting.

The SafeLift ™ can erase up to ten years or more from the patient’s appearance; however, afterwards, the normal aging process will resume. There are many factors that effect how long the results will last. Skin type, sun exposure and heredity all play a role in the aging process.

There will be minimal scaring associated with this procedure; however, most SafeLift ™ patients who have followed postoperative care instructions say the scars are virtually undetectable. The incision is carefully positioned along the sideburn area, behind the tragus of the ear, and under and behind the earlobe along the hairline.

Recuperation and Healing
The SafeLift ™ has little downtime associated with it. Swelling and bruising is very individualized, varying greatly from patient to patient.

Although some patients return to work the day after their postoperative visit, it is not recommended. This procedure is much less invasive than a traditional facelift; however, we cannot be certain of each patient’s individual response. With this in mind, each SafeLift ™ patient is encouraged not to schedule any firm commitments for the first three to seven days after the procedure.
